Where are you from? What do you do?
I'm a performer from Brooklyn. I've performed in shows and benefits on Broadway like The Lion King and Broadway Barks, and on TV shows like Late Night with Seth Meyers, I’m also a tap dance teacher.
How did you hear about BeGreat Bow Ties?
I actually learned of BeGreat bow ties during an Ode to the Black Fiddler festival. I was tap dancing in it while Thomas (Owner) was one of the vendors, which led to us meeting!
How long have you been wearing bow ties? When did you start?
I've been wearing bow ties since I was young, around 5. My parents were always dressed me nice and spiffy, so I grew up with a desire to find my individual style.
Which BeGreat bow tie do you own?
I own a bow tie with the word "Power", because it's my last name.
What made you choose POWER? What does it mean to you?
I chose my last name, so I could have a personal reminder: Own up to your power and excersize it, whatever form it comes in. To me, power is about influence, the ability to change what's around you. Whether I'm on stage or simply talking to someone--or even casting a vote--those are all oppurtunities to change something. They can be powerful moments.
Who are some of your style influences/influencers? Why?
Some of my personal style influencers are Michael B. Jordan and Tinie Tempah. I absolutely love their style, the way they express themselves by the way they dress. Even the most simplistic things they wear carry a distinct vibe. Much like BeGreat Bow Ties, they know how to make a statement.
What does being GREAT mean to you?
As a child, being great meant being big and strong. In my early teens it meant being a performer with undeniable talent. Nowadays it means doing all those while being able to support the ones I love, like my Mother. So for me, being great means striving at everything you do and having resources and energy to spare afterwards! .
